Living on the Eastside

The Eastside refers to the area east of Downtown Seattle that lies between Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, extending north to Bothell and Woodinville and south to Renton.
Early industries of logging, shingle mills, boat building and farming has evolved to high tech and software country which has some locals affectionately calling the Eastside the Silicon Forest. There has been a boom of housing developments, expanding number of business, services and retail centers. To control and plan for more organized growth, many Eastside communities support master-planned housing developments and Urban villages, where all the ammenities of living like shopping, working, and schooling are included.
